For those that know me, the existence of a list of ‘60 things to do before I’m 60’ won’t be a surprise. I had a ‘40 things to do before I’m 40’ list way back when. And I am still working my way through a ‘Places to visit in the UK’ bucket list.
For those that don’t know me, I’m a mum (of two adult children) approaching my mid-50s. I live in Oxfordshire, work part-time in a school and love being outdoors.
I’m a lifelong planner and organiser, hence the need for a list. It’s just how I get things done. Sure, I might do some of the things without a list to encourage me but my mind thrives on challenges and goals. The list helps me focus on what I want to do, without it I’m rather aimless. You can probably tell I’m rubbish at spontaneity!
The list could easily have been filled with places I want to visit. But, lottery win aside, it wouldn’t be achievable. There are also the issues of climate change and over tourism to grapple with. I hope I have come up with a good compromise – a sprinkling of adventure, outdoor activities and travel (by bus and train) interspersed with plenty of less active options. I’m determined to catch up on some classic films and read something else apart from crime novels.
I’ll be using the blog to record my progress. For this reason I’ll be posting as and when I complete an activity rather than on a regular schedule. Do pop back from time to time to see how I’m doing.
In the meantime if you’d like to check out my goals for the next few years then pop on over to the list of 60 things to do before I’m 60.
